A search for a cure to PTSD
I have spent decades thinking that I would never be able to function correctly in society. Certain situations throughout the day would trigger me, especially any situation that caused stress.
I have spent months over the years in sessions with psychologists and psychiatrists, in single sessions and group sessions, outside and through the VA (Veterans Affair), including with other veterans with PTSD. I did gain knowledge from these sessions that did assist me in controlling certain situation. While I still was not able to function in many situations and I learned over the years to avoid.
The only problem with attempting to avoid situations is that I noticed that I started to exclude myself from most functions. Loud noises, groups of people, police, military, even going outside became an issue with extreme anxiety and eventually became fully blown panic attacks.
Some of the sessions I found value in what was discussed. I learned with the group sessions that what I was experiencing, I was not alone. Even though this was useful and did assist with me being able to keep calm and have more understanding, however I still would be triggered into having extreme anxiety to the point where I could not function and then would become a panic attack.
The main process that I learned was that during these times I found myself not breathing. Being conscious of me not breathing when these times occur has greatly helped me. Because this was the one single most important lesson that I learned throughout my sessions, I believe it is worth explaining. I have found that most people unconsciously hold their breath or slow breathing down dramatically when presented with a panic attack. Pay attention to your breathing when you find yourself feeling like a panic attack is coming on or is already present. Breath in deeply slowly and exhale slowly. Breath in and out as much as you need to. You will notice the tension release.
Psychiatrists wanted to prescribe me drugs from the beginning. I did not want to take any drugs that would alter my state of consciousness. After months of sessions and years that passed, and my PTSD still was present and seemed to overwhelm me in many situations. Once again, I was told by a psychiatrist that I should give prescription drugs a try. I reluctantly agreed, because nothing seemed to be working to keep my anxiety at bay. Unfortunately, every prescription drug that I was given made me feel worse. Some made me not able to function at all, making me feel like a zombie. Some caused performance issues in areas that I did not like. I was told that I had to allow these drugs to take affect and had to wait to try something else. I eventually decided on my own that any of the prescription drugs that I took did not assist me in what I really needed. The prescribed drugs that did help with my panic attacks caused other issues in my life that I did not feel that it was worth staying on them. If I could not function at all while I was on these drugs than why even take them. I felt worse on these drugs than they even helped.
A decade or so back I came across some videos that were about crossbreeding cannabis plants to have less THC and more CBD. I saw a video with a mother feeding a thick syrup consistency through a syringe to a child that was having seizures and almost immediately he stopped and calmed down. Other videos showed great results with this liquid goo.
Now that CBD is becoming more and more mainstream, I was introduced to CBD oil for the first time in the summer of 2018. I was told that it should help me. My thought was I do not need mind-altering drugs and Marijuana is a mind-altering drug. A massive amount of questions came to my mind, so I did what I could to research the current situation on CBD. I found nothing but more good results on people using CBD, so I decided to purchase a bottle.
After consuming CBD oil for the first time I could almost instantly tell that my anxiety went away. I have been consuming CBD for months with outstanding results. People that I have given some to have all felt benefits from it. Anyone that has been around me that I saw shaking or being angry, after giving a little bit of CBD stopped with the shaking and/or calmed down.
I fully believe in and use CBD oil. CBD is the final search to allow me to function in this world with my PTSD. I fully believe that anyone with PTSD should seek console by a qualified professional as getting your mind set in order. However, CBD is the single most answer to my long-awaited answer to my PTSD.
The most important information that I discovered is below for your review.
What is CBD?
CBD stands for cannabidiol. CBD is one of over 120 cannabinoids that have been isolated from the cannabis (Cannabis sativa) plant, aka marijuana. There are variety of different cannabis plants. THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) is the psychoactive cannabinoid found in cannabis. CBD is not psychoactive which means it does not have ‘mind-altering effects’ like marijuana or pharmaceutical drugs.
CBD oil is extracted from the plant then diluted usually with some type of oil. Some oils used are hemp seed oil and coconut oil among others.
What to look for before buying CBD

How does CDB work in our bodies?
CBD, and THC work by interacting with our body’s endocannabinoid system. This system is a regulatory system made up of naturally occurring cannabis-like molecules. These endocannabinoids, work like neurotransmitters, shuttling messages through the body to help maintain homeostasis. Cannabinoids like CBD and THC interact with the endocannabinoid system at two known receptors: CB1 and CB2.
CB1 receptors are mainly present in the brain — where they’re involved with cognition, memory, motor skills and pain — but also in the peripheral nervous system, liver, thyroid, uterus and more. THC attaches itself to these receptors, inhibiting the release of neurotransmitters and possibly increasing the release of others, altering normal functioning.
Researchers once thought that CBD did the same thing, but with CB2 receptors — which are abundant in the immune and gastrointestinal systems, as well as the brain and nervous system. However, they no longer believe that to be true.
Although the exact way CBD affects our bodies is still unknown, scientists think CBD encourages the body to produce more of its own endocannabinoids, which may help reduce anxiety, pain and inflammation.
What forms does CBD come in?
- Tinctures (oil)
- Edibles
- Tropical cream
- Smokable
What does CBD do?
- CBD has been known as a natural remedy used for many common ailments.
- CBD does not alter the way you think and react like marijuana or alcohol.
- In fact, a dropper full of 50mg per ml will almost immediately calm you.
How to use CBD
Depending on the form you decide to use.
Creams are designed as a topical to be rubbed into your skin.
Tinctures and edibles are designed to be consumed orally.
Does CBD show up on a urine test?
As CBD is derived from cannabis it has small amounts of THC. However, is it enough to show up on a urine test? I have not known anyone to have failed a urine test, however I do not know anyone that has taken CBD and had to take a urine test. Please send feedback if you know someone using CBD and has taken a urine test. Were the results positive or negative?
How to figure out how many milligrams per milliliter are in each container.
Tincture bottles come in different sizes and some state they have more CBD in them and therefore cost more. How to find the amount per 1ml.
Take the total volume of the bottle (MG) and divide that by the CBD/ML which will give you the mg of CBD per 1 ml.
Where I recommend buying CBD.
If you live around a Wild Bill’s tobacco shop go to them.
At the time I wrote this page:
Wild Bills has natural (no flavor added) and different flavors added to their CBD. Wild Bill also has different mg per ml. The highest is 50ml per mg.
Wild Bills on Wednesdays has a discount on all CBD and Kratom.
Lazarusnaturals.com has CBD and I was told by people in my area that they have had success and recommend Lazarusnaturals.com. However, is very expensive, and currently comes only in one flavor, natural.
Lazarusnaturals.com is expensive for non-military personnel. All military people (with DD-214, VA card, Active military card, etc.) get a 60% discount. This discount makes the CBD the same price as Wild Bills per the same ml per mg.
Lazarusnaturals also gives the same discount to Long-term disability, and low income. See there page at: https://www.lazarusnaturals.com/assistance-programs
Conclusion
I would recommend anyone trying CBD that has any type of anxiety, anger issues, uncontrollable shaking, seizures. It has been an amazing substance for me and others that I know. I would like to have discovered CBD decades ago. My life has changed for the good because of CBD and would have given me a life years ago if I would have consumed it then. Unfortunately CBD was not readily available as it is now today.
Great line up. We will be linking to this great article on our site. Keep up the good writing.
