The two best mixer to buy are the Vitimix and the Blendtec.
My experience is that the Vitimix is a superior product to the Blendtec and I would recommend the Vitimix.
We purchased the Blendtec first and noticed right away that it struggled to make thick smoothies and thick drinks. The Blendtec would often overheat and stop during the process of making smoothies. The smell of burnt motor would be in the batches we made. The reason why I bought the Blendtec was because it was less price then the Vitimix.
After the Blendtec failed on us, motor burned out, Blentec had us send in the Blendtec. After a week of waiting for the return (with no date of arrival of the refurbished Blendtec) we decided to purchase a Vitimix.
The Vitimix was noticeably by far a better product. Having the Vitimix for years now and not once has it ever struggled to make our food. The Vitimix has never over heated on us. The Vitimix actually works better at lower resolution than the Blendtec, so our smoothies and other batches do not get hot while being made, unlike the Blendtec.
Only issue with both is after a few years the blades get dull and a new container are needed to be purchased. If still under manufacture warranty you should contact Vitimix and or Blendtec for a replacement.
